Why I've Decided to Start a Blog.

We never really know where our life’s journey will take us. My adventure started in a small town located in Northern NSW called Cabarita Beach. Early in age, I knew I'd have to move around in pursuit of my dreams, first I went to boarding school (The Southport School), then my hard work received a scholarship to The Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra, jumped on a plane to the cold cornfields of Lincoln Nebraska, sprinted to the city of churches, Adelaide, and currently climbing into the beautiful Tassie. All this lead me to pick up a pen and start writing.

A journal a day helps me keep the blues away.

Your journey has led you to read my very first blog, and for that, I am extremely grateful.

Welcome. And Thank you for your time.

Now, why would I be starting a blog? Well everyone loves a list, so here is one for you.

1. Solace in my notes

Moving states can be stressful, new friendships can be intimidating, without constant proactive brain high-fives (how I like to describe an awesome moment between yourself and yourself) life, in general, can become a little bit (or completely) overwhelming. Since moving to Tasmania my journal has been one of my best friends. It helps me keep on track with my goals, reinforce positive self-talk, put my feelings into the universe and most importantly practice my gratitude every day through my writings. These are all really important habits that keep that smile on my face, I thought it could be beneficial to at least one person if I share one or two of these daily practices.

2. Building a community

It takes a village to raise a child. We all know this well. For me I’ve been fortunate enough to join many villages in my life already, this has given me the understanding of how important the feeling of belonging and being a part of bigger than yourself is. I’d love nothing more than to build a community that uplifts each other, spreads kindness, and helps people reach their full potential. Watching Anthony Drmic build his community through streaming, and the amazing relationships he has been lucky enough to grow, I'd love nothing more than to do the same thing.

3. Documenting my thoughts

Time travel. It's real. Journaling has given me the ability to go back in time. I can explore periods of my life and study my daily habits or teachings that I had learned from all my past experiences. Patterns occur in my life that I’ve been able to document, am I sleeping enough, am I replying to people, what am I doing to start my days. All of this helps me get to know myself better, explore my mind and apply these learnings to my present life. It's always an awarding feeling reading back on a time when you felt like you were struggling, and realizing that’s when some of your most important growth occurred.

4. Accountability

I need help. I have always been an idea guy, a big thinker, a plan of action, but never someone who appoints himself a task and sticks with it. This is something I'm working on every day. I will be using not only this blog, but my friends (you), to help me stay accountable to my writing and goals. Reaching out to friends and family as a source of accountability is always a great way to help yourself change a habit or pattern. Welcome to the new Jack experience. What do all the bloggers and influencers say again? Watch this space haha.

I’ll be writing about all things, big and small, short and tall, art and basketball. I'd love it so much if you'd follow along as I learn how to grow and adapt as a human being, if you stay long enough, I know we will learn together. Thank you for reading my very first blog, don’t be afraid to reach out if you enjoyed it, or if you didn’t (that’s okay too). I hope you’re having an incredible day my friend. I'll see you next time.
